Swachhata Seva – Selfless Service for Cleanliness
Students Join Hands for a Cleaner and
Greener School Campus
Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School
organised “Swachhata Seva”, a cleanliness and Shramadana programme aimed at
nurturing cleanliness, teamwork, civic responsibility and dignity of labour
among students on 14th August 2026.
With great enthusiasm, students joined
their teachers in cleaning different areas of the school campus. Equipped with
safety gloves, they actively participated in collecting plastic litter,
removing fallen leaves, clearing weeds and wild grass, and tidying the school
surroundings.
The activity was marked by cheerful participation and a strong spirit of teamwork. Students worked together in groups, helping one another as they cleaned open areas, pathways and green spaces around the campus. Their energy and willingness to contribute demonstrated that cleanliness becomes much more meaningful when it is accepted as a shared responsibility.
The programme was not merely an exercise in cleaning the campus. It provided students with an opportunity to understand the dignity of labour and the importance of contributing personally towards the well-being of their surroundings. Through hands-on participation, the children experienced how small individual efforts, when combined, can bring about a visible and positive transformation.
The drive also reinforced an important message: keeping our environment clean should not be restricted to a particular day or programme. Cleanliness must become a habit practised at school, at home and in the community.
The active involvement of the teachers added further meaning to the programme. By working alongside the students, they demonstrated through action that environmental responsibility and community service are values to be practised rather than merely taught in the classroom.
At the end of the activity, the school surroundings appeared cleaner, greener and refreshed. More importantly, the students carried away a valuable lesson in teamwork, responsibility, selfless service and respect for the environment.
Swachhata Seva reminded everyone that a clean school begins with responsible individuals and that every small act of cleanliness contributes towards building a cleaner and healthier society
