Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride on 15 August 2026. The programme was organised on the school grounds in the gracious presence of the management, invited dignitaries, the Principal, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and students.
The celebration was attended by Shri Prashant Acharya, Secretary, Alevoor Education Society, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour were Dr. P. S. Aithal, Honorary Secretary, Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School; Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, Treasurer, Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School; and Shri A. P. Kodancha, Director, Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School. The dignitaries were formally welcomed on behalf of the school at the beginning of the programme.

Commencement of the Programme
The programme began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Trupti, followed by the school prayer, which created a solemn and devotional atmosphere. The dignitaries then proceeded towards the flagpole for the flag-hoisting ceremony. The unfurling of the National Flag was accompanied by feelings of pride, respect and gratitude towards the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Students and teachers joined together in singing the patriotic song “Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara.” This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, during which everyone stood in respectful attention. The programme reminded the gathering that freedom is not merely a privilege to be enjoyed but also a responsibility that must be protected through unity, discipline and service to the nation.
Student Participation
Master Rakshit of Grade VI delivered a speech on the importance of India’s national symbols. He explained how the National Flag, National Anthem, National Song, national animal, national bird, national flower and national tree represent India’s unity, culture, heritage, strength and natural diversity.
His speech encouraged the students to respect the country’s national symbols and understand the values represented by them. His confident presentation was appreciated by the dignitaries, teachers and students.
Address by the Chief Guest
Chief Guest Shri Prashant Acharya addressed the gathering and congratulated the school community on the occasion. He appreciated the development of the institution, the commitment of its teachers and the enthusiasm of the students.

His address highlighted the importance of education, discipline, collective responsibility and the contribution of educational institutions towards building responsible citizens. He encouraged the students to make good use of the opportunities available to them and to contribute positively to their families, community and country.
Address by Dr. P. S. Aithal
Dr. P. S. Aithal recalled the importance of Independence Day in the lives of students and explained how political freedom enabled Indians to make decisions for the development of their own people and institutions.
He urged the students to remember a few essential responsibilities in life. These included maintaining cleanliness, respecting parents, teachers, elders and fellow students, developing moral values, being truthful and honest, dreaming about their future and working hard to achieve their goals.
He also referred to the cleanliness activity undertaken by senior students before the celebration and advised the children to keep their homes, school surroundings, roads and neighbourhood free from waste and discarded plastic. He stressed that dreams, hard work, smart work, commitment and dedication are necessary for success. He further encouraged students to participate in sports, games, yoga and physical exercise for their overall physical and mental development.
Address by Dr. Sureshramana Mayya
Dr. Sureshramana Mayya began his address with an energetic call of “Jai Hind,” inviting the students to respond enthusiastically. He wished everyone a happy 80th Independence Day and reminded the children that they would form the core of India in the years 2030, 2040 and beyond.
He explained that the future of the country depends upon the knowledge, values, integrity and actions of today’s children. Referring to the life of former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, he described how Kalam distributed newspapers as a young boy, continued his studies and nurtured great dreams that eventually led him to become a scientist and the President of India.
The students were encouraged to dream of becoming teachers, doctors, scientists, administrators, leaders and responsible citizens. He observed that even when a person does not fully reach a very high goal, aiming high can still lead to significant achievement.
Dr. Mayya also recalled that while the country celebrated freedom in 1947, Mahatma Gandhi was working among communities affected by violence. Through this example, he explained that genuine leadership does not merely mean occupying an important position or standing on a stage; it means going where one is needed and serving people with commitment.
He spoke about the important role of parents and teachers in developing values, kindness, hard work and integrity among children. He narrated an incident from his own student life in which a teacher courageously apologised after unintentionally hurting a student. The incident illustrated that acknowledging one’s mistake and saying sorry are signs of strength, humility and good character.

A major highlight of his address was the explanation of the five letters of the word INDIA:
I – Integrity: Being honest even when nobody is watching.
N – Nation before self: Placing the welfare of the country above personal interest.
D – Dream: Having a meaningful ambition and working towards it.
I – Inclusion: Accepting, respecting and caring for everyone.
A – Action: Taking concrete steps to transform dreams into reality.
He reminded the students that success without character, knowledge without kindness and freedom without responsibility remain incomplete. The message of Integrity, Nation, Dream, Inclusion and Action encouraged the students to become responsible and compassionate citizens.
Address by Shri A. P. Kodancha
Shri A. P. Kodancha conveyed his Independence Day greetings to the gathering and encouraged the students to live not merely for themselves but also for their families, society and nation. He emphasised that when individuals, families, villages and institutions progress with unity and responsibility, the state and the country also develop.
His address reinforced the message that patriotism should be demonstrated through responsible living, mutual respect and sincere contribution to society.
Vote of Thanks and Distribution of Sweets
At the conclusion of the formal programme, Ms. Trupti proposed the vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, members of the management, Principal, teachers, staff, parents and students for their presence, guidance and cooperation in making the celebration successful.
The students were then requested to remain in their respective places for the distribution of Independence Day sweets by their class teachers. The programme concluded with patriotic greetings and wishes for a peaceful, progressive and united India.
Conclusion
The 80th Independence Day celebration at Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School was both inspiring and memorable. The programme successfully combined patriotism, student participation, value-based education and messages of social responsibility.
The speeches reminded the children that patriotism is expressed not only by saluting the National Flag but also through honesty, cleanliness, discipline, respect, inclusion, hard work and service to others. The celebration left the students with the powerful message that the India of tomorrow will be shaped by their dreams, character and actions.
The event concluded with renewed pride in the nation and a collective commitment to build an India free from ignorance, hatred, dishonesty and fear, where every child is encouraged to dream and achieve his or her full potential.
