The Manipura Health Centre conducted an informative and impactful Brain Fever Awareness Programme at Alevoor Grama Panchayat on 30th October 2025. The session was organized with the aim of educating the local community about brain fever (encephalitis)—a serious health condition caused by inflammation of the brain, often due to viral or bacterial infections.

Purpose of the Programme

The main objective of the awareness session was to:

  • Increase understanding of early symptoms of brain fever.

  • Highlight preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Emphasize the importance of timely medical attention to avoid complications.

Programme Highlights

Healthcare professionals from Manipura Health Centre delivered a detailed presentation covering:

  • Early warning signs: high fever, severe headache, vomiting, neck stiffness, and other neurological symptoms.

  • Causes and risk factors: infections, mosquito bites, seasonal viral outbreaks, and poor hygiene conditions.

  • Prevention tips: maintaining cleanliness, using mosquito protection, seeking early treatment, and spreading awareness within the community.

The resource persons stressed the need for quick diagnosis and immediate medical intervention, explaining that early action can significantly reduce the severity of the illness and improve recovery outcomes.

Community Participation

Local Panchayat members, health workers, and teachers actively took part in the programme, making it a collaborative effort to strengthen community health.
Teachers from Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School (APPS)—Mrs. Suvarana and Mrs. Dayavathi—attended the session and gained valuable insights about the disease and safety measures.

Follow-up in School

After attending the programme, the teachers briefed the students of APPS in age-appropriate language, ensuring that every child understood:

  • What brain fever is

  • How it spreads

  • The importance of personal hygiene

  • Preventive steps to stay safe from seasonal health issues

By simplifying the medical concepts, the teachers helped students become more aware, responsible, and health-conscious.

The awareness programme proved to be highly beneficial for both the community and the school. It not only strengthened public health knowledge but also empowered students and teachers to take proactive measures for disease prevention.

Such initiatives play a significant role in building a safer and healthier community, and the school looks forward to participating in more awareness programmes in the future.
