Educational Visit to KMF Nandini Dairy, Uppoor: 29th November 2025

On 29th November 2025, the students from Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School, Grades 5 to 8, had a wonderful and insightful educational visit to KMF Nandini Dairy, Uppoor. The visit offered a comprehensive understanding of how milk and a variety of dairy products are processed, ensuring they reach consumers in a safe, nutritious, and high-quality form.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the dairy staff, who explained the role of KMF Nandini as one of Karnataka’s major milk cooperatives. They also highlighted how milk from local farmers is collected daily and brought to the dairy for processing—creating an important link between rural producers and consumers.

The students were guided step-by-step through the major stages of milk processing:

  • Milk Collection & Testing: They learned how raw milk is received, measured, and tested for freshness, purity, and fat content to maintain strict quality standards.
  • Pasteurization: Students observed how milk is heated to eliminate harmful bacteria, ensuring it is safe for consumption.
  • Homogenization: They understood how the fat molecules in milk are evenly dispersed, giving milk its smooth texture.
  • Cooling & Storage: The students saw how the processed milk is rapidly cooled and stored in chilled tanks to preserve freshness.
  • Packaging: They watched advanced automatic machinery pack milk into pouches and bottles, maintaining hygiene and preventing contamination.

In addition to milk processing, students were excited to learn how popular dairy products such as curd, ghee, butter, paneer, and flavoured milk are made. Staff members also emphasized the importance of hygiene, sanitation, and quality control, explaining how each product undergoes multiple checks before being dispatched to stores.

The session was highly engaging and interactive students asked thoughtful questions and were fascinated by the large-scale machines, refrigeration systems, and laboratory setup used to maintain quality.

Overall, it was an enriching experience that expanded their understanding of the dairy industry and its vital role in our daily lives. The students from Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School returned with renewed curiosity and appreciation for the journey of milk from farm to home.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Managing Director and the entire KMF Nandini Dairy team for their warm hospitality and for providing the students with such an inspiring learning opportunity.

A memorable and truly educational journey!
