Fire Safety and Prevention Workshop at Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School: 5 Feb 2026

Udupi, February 5, 2026:

With a strong focus on student safety and emergency preparedness, Poornaprajna College (Autonomous), Udupi, organized a comprehensive Fire Safety and Prevention Workshop in Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School campus today. The NSS Unit of the College coordinated the program.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services, Udupi, with active participation from students and staff members. The session was led by Shri Vinayak U. Kaluktar, Fire Station Officer, Udupi District, who shared expert insights and practical guidance on managing fire-related emergencies. Students of Alevoor Poornaprajna Public School witnessed the programme as part of their safety awareness initiatives.



Highlights of the Workshop

Live Demonstrations:
Participants observed hands-on demonstrations on the correct use of various types of fire extinguishers, along with practical training on the essential “Stop, Drop, and Roll” safety technique.

Emergency Response Protocols:
The fire service team explained the immediate actions to be taken during a fire emergency, emphasizing the importance of staying calm, alerting authorities promptly, and evacuating the premises in a systematic and safe manner.

Fire Prevention Awareness:
Special emphasis was placed on identifying potential fire hazards in laboratories, classrooms, and household environments. Participants were educated on preventive measures to minimize risks and avoid accidents.

Learning Outcomes

The workshop provided valuable hands-on experience, enabling participants to move beyond theoretical knowledge. By the end of the session, both college and school students gained greater confidence in responding effectively during emergencies and understood their role as responsible first responders.

A representative from the college administration remarked,
